Roller racking is the ideal way to optimise your available space and can be configured to require as little as half the space as a traditional, static shelving set up. This has made roller racking extremely popular for warehouses, stock rooms, parts stores, retail storage spaces and has even been used for the storage of evidence or seized goods in law enforcement facilities.
We design our roller racking systems specifically for each customer and their available space. Free of charge, we carry out a thorough site survey of the proposed storage area. Taking into account the space available and the items that you need to store, we produce CAD layout drawings of our proposed Roller Racking system for your location. Once you are happy with the proposal, we will custom-make your roller racking. This can be assembled by our team on-site.
The modular design of our roller racking systems enables quick and easy installation. Additions and alterations are also easy to make as your storage needs develop over time. Because our roller racking is designed to sit directly on a given floor surface without the need for fixing, it can be relocated without causing damage to the floor. This also reduces the need for excessive site preparation in advance of assembly.
Configuration Examples
Figure 1: Static
Area used: 6.4m x 4.0m
Storage capacity = 192m
Figure 2: Mobile
Area used: 3.2m x 4.0m
Storage capacity = 192m
This option uses half the space but provides the
same capacity as the static option (Fig. 1).
Figure 3: Double mobile
Area used: 6.4m x 4.0m
Storage capacity = 384m
This option uses the same amount of space but
provides twice the capacity as the static option (Fig. 1)
More information
When space is limited, mobile and roller racking systems optimise capacity while occupying minimal space. These systems allow shelving units to move along tracks or rails, removing fixed aisles and creating a compact, adaptable storage area. Whether you're managing archives, museum collections, or industrial stock, mobile racking helps you store more efficiently while maintaining accessibility and control. From light-duty archive shelves to heavy-duty systems, we’ll design a layout that fits your products and workflow. Our mobile systems can even be locked for secure or high-value storage.
Archive storage
Paperwork and records soon pile up. Our archive shelving helps you store them safely, neatly, and within easy reach. It’s strong, space-saving, and designed to protect important documents for the long term. Every system includes anti-tip features and safety locks. Powered versions stop automatically if sensors detect movement in the aisle. We fit clear signage so your team always knows load limits.
Store more in less space
Archive shelving can double the capacity of your room without any building work. We supply both fixed and mobile options so you can choose between permanent aisles or movable carriages that open where you need them. Each unit glides smoothly on rails using a hand wheel or powered controls. Ideal for archives, warehouses, or workshops. We tailor every project to your specific requirements, from light-duty archive shelving to heavy-duty pallet racking mounted on mobile bases. We can integrate lockable sections for secure storage or anti-vibration trays for delicate artefacts. Our CAD design team provides full layout drawings and load assessments before installation begins.
Protect what matters
Powder-coated steel keeps documents safe from rust and dust, while smooth edges stop files from snagging. We can add fire-retardant coatings and lockable doors for sensitive or legal archives. Our installations comply with SEMA and HSE guidelines and include load signage, user manuals, and maintenance schedules. All steel components are powder-coated or galvanised to ensure long-term corrosion resistance.
Easy access and organisation
Adjustable shelves and clear labelling make it simple to find what you need. We can add barcode strips or lighting to help with large collections.
End-to-end service
We handle design, delivery, and installation across the UK. Need to move an archive to a new site? We can dismantle and reinstall it without damaging your documents. Our qualified engineers manage the full installation, including sub-floor preparation and rail alignment. After completion, we offer maintenance packages covering lubrication, safety checks, and alignment inspections to keep the system running smoothly.
Frequently asked questions
Shelves sit on carriages that move along floor rails, creating a single working aisle that moves as needed.
Yes. Powered systems include photo-electric sensors and emergency-stop features that meet UK safety regulations. We recommend an annual inspection and light lubrication of moving parts. Our service contracts cover this alongside any required alignment checks.
Yes, our engineers can dismantle and reinstall your system at a new site.
Many installations can be fitted to existing floors. Our engineers survey each site to confirm floor tolerance and reinforcement requirements.
With simple maintenance, our systems can last decades.
Yes — we can retrofit existing shelving with mobile carriages..
Yes, optional fire-retardant finishes are available.
Yes — our team will plan the best configuration for access and capacity. Our Space Planning service will provide detailed CAD drawings of you space and our recommendations on how to maximise its storage potential.
Yes, we cover the whole UK with our in-house installers.
Yes. Mechanical and electronic locking options are available for sensitive storage areas.
